And here’s Strapped Condoms second attempt to rectify the problem and the verdict is another failure. First of all why is Lil’ Wayne letting any one reach into his pockets, second why does he need bling, lutchie (money, chedda, feddy) and a deck of cards, huh, what? And why is Lil Wayne shrugging his shoulders? He’s shrugging his shoulders because the fake C.H.I.P.’s Eric Estrada is whispering to him after the cameras go off we can put these boxes to work, LOL.
As a 22 year-old young African American woman living with HIV, I feel a man should not shrug his shoulders because they have every responsibility as us women/girls do to be safe and cautious! I think the ad should have been a blunt bold statement that stands out to the children. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the Black-owned condom manufacturing company's efforts to help put a stop to the HIV epidemic but as a young HIV positive woman of color, I'd like a bolder statement in print on the advertisement! At this point the theme doesn’t match the plot. I say Strapped Condoms get a D- for the theme and an B- for the effort.
A better scene would have been of Lil’ Wayne in bed, with the Strapped Condoms, and he’s smiling. Then the scene changes to him saying something like safe sex is the best sex. Then another scene could have been where he walks in an all red room and states, safe sex is always the way to go regardless.
It’s easily understood as a stand out commercial to the general public!
